Outbreak of tomato fruit blotch virus in the most relevant tomato greenhouse production area of Sicily.

An outbreak of tomato fruit blotch virus (ToFBV) has been identified in the tomato greenhouse production area of Sicily, Italy. The virus was first isolated from symptomatic tomato plants in Latina, Lazio in 2018. In December 2023, tomato plants in Ragusa province showed circular or irregular chlorotic blotches on the fruit. Molecular analysis confirmed the presence of ToFBV in all symptomatic samples. The outbreak has prompted eradication measures in the region. [Extracted from the article]
