Abstract
- South Africa will hold the rotating presidency of BRICS in 2023, which consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has stated that expanding BRICS will be under serious consideration during their presidency. Russia's Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov has suggested that BRICS could expand to include 15-17 countries, based on necessary conditions and collective decisions. The possibility of expanding membership is still being discussed within the BRICS framework, and there is interest from countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Argentina to join. BRICS aims to provide an alternative to the Western-dominated global financial architecture and support a sustainable and equitable global economic recovery. [Extracted from the article]
