Abstract

Stanhope Capital founder and CEO, Daniel Pinto, believes that the UK needs to do more to attract company listings in London. He suggests that politicians in Europe should allow insurers and pension funds to invest more in private and public equity, rather than just bonds, in order to deepen the capital markets. Pinto's comments come as the UK government tries to revive economic growth and boost investment in the country's sluggish capital markets. The London Stock Exchange has only accounted for 2% of the IPOs in Europe this year, the lowest share in decades. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt, is reportedly considering changes to boost investment in UK assets. Pinto also mentions that the UK's opposition Labour Party appears to be more market-friendly than expected. [Extracted from the article]
