Abstract

Foreign investors continue to invest in Vietnam despite political upheaval and a series of corruption scandals involving top Communist Party leaders. Between January and April, foreign direct investment increased by 7.4% to $6.3 billion, and the country's external account remains healthy. Vietnam's economy is projected to be one of Asia's fastest-growing, and companies like Samsung and Apple have expressed their commitment to investing in the country. While some investors may be cautious, long-term foreign business leaders in Vietnam are not panicking and believe that the leadership reshuffling is merely political infighting. The stock market has also remained resilient, with the VN Index posting a year-to-date gain of 12.3%. [Extracted from the article]
