Abstract

A recent study conducted at the Dr. Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Foundation in Andhra Pradesh, India compared two techniques for inguinal hernia repair: mesh plug with patch repair and Lichtenstein repair. The study aimed to determine which technique was superior in terms of outcomes and complications. The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences in complications between the two groups, but the mesh plug repair technique was found to be safer, easier, and resulted in shorter operation duration and hospitalization. The study concluded that mesh plug repair was superior to Lichtenstein repair in terms of postoperative pain and quality of life. [Extracted from the article]
