Abstract
- A recent study conducted at University Hospital in Salamanca, Spain, explored the use of plasma exchange (PE) in the treatment of anti-signal recognition particle myopathy (anti-SRP myopathy), a rare subtype of immune-mediated inflammatory myopathy. The study analyzed data from 23 patients with anti-SRP myopathy who were treated with PE. The results showed that most patients experienced improvement in symptoms and a reduction in muscle weakness after PE. The study suggests that PE may be effective in inducing remission and controlling symptoms in severe cases of anti-SRP myopathy, but further research is needed to better understand its efficacy and safety.
