Abstract

A multicenter study conducted in Japan compared the outcomes of transcatheter and surgical interventions for pediatric aortic valvular stenosis (vAS). The study included 73 children with vAS who underwent either balloon aortic valvuloplasty (BAV) or surgical aortic valvuloplasty (SAV). The study found that long-term survival rates were similar between the two groups, and there were no significant differences in rates of reintervention or prosthetic/autograft valve replacement. The study suggests that both transcatheter and surgical interventions are acceptable treatment options for pediatric vAS. [Extracted from the article]
