Abstract
- A scoping review study conducted by researchers at the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences in Tehran, Iran, aimed to identify the types of rehabilitation interventions that improve the motor skills of preterm infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The study reviewed 15 research papers published between 2000 and 2023, focusing on occupational therapy and physiotherapy interventions. The findings categorized the interventions into four groups: multimodal and multisensory interventions, neurodevelopmental interventions, parents-administered interventions, and supporting play exploration and early developmental interventions. Most of the interventions showed short-term effects on motor improvement, except for the supportive play exploration intervention, which reported improved motor development in the short- and long-term.
