Abstract

A quantum dot (QD) is a semiconducting nanocrystal with exceptional luminescence emissions. Their semiconductor characteristics differ from those of bulk materials due to quantum confinement. Due to these characteristics, QDs can be used as a luminous probe for biological and pharmacological investigations. The purpose of this section is to examine the creation, modification, characterization and application of QDs. Due to their potential for imaging and targeting applications in drug delivery, quantum dots have attracted the attention of scientists. In the current work, we have thoroughly evaluated a variety of QD-related topics, emphasizing their pharmacology, interactions, pharmacological and biological uses and toxicological manifestations. The goal of QD usage is to significantly enhance clinical diagnostic procedures for early cancer detection. QDs are a new fluorescent probe that has been introduced to cell biology in recent years. This review's objective is to list and examine the benefits and drawbacks of QDs and the applications for which they are used. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
