Abstract

India's Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal until the end of the ongoing elections, allowing him to campaign against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party. Kejriwal is facing allegations of money laundering in relation to a now-scrapped liquor sales tax scheme in Delhi and was arrested in March. Despite calls from the BJP for his resignation, Kejriwal has been running his government from prison. The court has stated that Kejriwal will have to surrender on June 2, after the last day of voting on June 1 and before the results are announced on June 4. [Extracted from the article]
