Abstract

This article discusses the psychosocial conditions of patients with vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) at a referral hospital in Surabaya, Indonesia. VVF is an abnormal opening between the bladder and vagina that causes urinary incontinence. The study aims to describe the psychosocial state of VVF patients and highlights the importance of prevention and awareness in the gynecological community. The prevention of fistulas should prioritize education, improving women's social status and nutrition, and ensuring accessible healthcare services. The study also highlights the link between fistulas and depression, with patients experiencing physical problems and a sense of depression. The document emphasizes the importance of education in reducing the risk of depression and the need for healthcare workers to provide education and support to prevent and manage fistulas.
