Abstract

According to a report by Human Rights Watch, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied militia groups in Sudan engaged in ethnic cleansing in the Darfur region in 2023. The RSF targeted unarmed civilians, including women, children, and members of the non-Arab Masalit community. The RSF used derogatory racial slurs and told the targeted individuals to leave, claiming that the land belonged to Arabs. The conflict in Sudan has resulted in a civil war, with an estimated 150,000 people killed and millions displaced. The report is based on interviews, videos, photographs, and satellite imagery.
