Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the State University of New York (SUNY) analyzed national trends in the incidence of sporadic malignant colorectal polyps in young patients aged 20-49 years. The study found that almost half of the malignant polyps occurred in individuals under the age of 45, which is younger than the current screening threshold recommended by the American College of Physicians (ACP). The researchers concluded that there has been an upward trend in malignant polyps in the last two decades, indicating changes in tumor biology and supporting the need for further research and support in the guidelines for initiating colorectal cancer screening at the age of 45 years.
