Abstract

A recent report discusses research conducted by the Department of Gastroenterology on patient acceptance and preference for computed tomographic colonography (CTC) compared to colonoscopy. The study involved participants from a nationwide multicenter trial in Japan. The results showed that CTC was considered easier than colonoscopy in the unsedated colonoscopy group, and 48% of participants in this group preferred CTC for future examinations. However, in the sedated colonoscopy group, CTC was found to be more difficult than colonoscopy, and only 26% preferred CTC for future examinations. The study concluded that CTC has superior acceptability compared to unsedated colonoscopy, but did not observe advantages over sedated colonoscopy. [Extracted from the article]
