Abstract

A report from Children's University Hospital Nino Jesus in Madrid, Spain, discusses the use of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) in Spanish pediatric critical care units (PICUs). The study conducted a national web survey among members of the Spanish Society of Pediatric Intensive Care to gather information on the use and indications of HFNC. The survey found that a majority of Spanish pediatric intensivists use HFNC, primarily for acute bronchiolitis and respiratory assistance after extubation. However, there is a lack of evidence on its effectiveness, and further research is needed to determine its efficacy in critically ill children. [Extracted from the article]
