Abstract

A recent study conducted by the Universidade Federal do Parana (UFPR) in Curitiba, Brazil, examined the characteristics and treatment response of pediatric patients with pityriasis lichenoides, a skin condition. The study analyzed the medical records of 41 patients under the age of 15 and found that the most common form of the condition was pityriasis lichenoides chronica (PLC), primarily affecting schoolchildren and adolescents. The study also observed two peaks in the frequency of cases, which coincided with infectious outbreaks. Remission rates were higher in patients who received antibiotic therapy or phototherapy, and the chance of remission was greater in patients with disease onset after the age of 5.
