Abstract

This article provides a summary of recent advances in kidney research published in Acta Physiologica. The research covers various aspects of renal physiology, including glomerular filtration dynamics, tubular transport mechanisms, hormonal regulation, and genetic and environmental determinants of renal health. The studies discussed in the article explore topics such as the effects of fasting on fibroblast growth factor 23 levels, the role of exercise in protecting against acute kidney injury, the potential benefits of the drug tempol in septic acute kidney injury, the importance of renin-producing cells in kidney regeneration, the impact of immunosuppressive drugs on kidney function, the involvement of Two-pore channels protein 1 in phosphate excretion, the use of MRI markers to assess renal oxygenation, the relationship between kidney dysfunction and atrial fibrillation, and the role of endothelial to mesenchymal transition in cardiovascular and kidney pathophysiology. The article also mentions review articles on glomerular crosstalk mechanisms and circadian rhythm in renal physiology and pathophysiology. These recent advancements have the potential to contribute to the development of targeted therapies and diagnostic tools for renal disorders. [Extracted from the article]
