Abstract
- Sudan is currently facing a severe humanitarian crisis due to its ongoing civil war. The capital city, Khartoum, has been heavily damaged, and over 8 million people have been displaced and forced to live in camps. The war began in April 2023 when the ruling military junta split into two factions, with foreign powers arming both sides. There are concerns that another genocide, similar to the one in Darfur, may occur. The situation is exacerbated by the threat of famine, as farmers are unable to harvest crops and aid shipments are blocked. The war has been marked by brutal violence, including the use of rape as a weapon and reports of soldiers engaging in cannibalism. Despite the severity of the crisis, it has received little international attention, which some attribute to racism and a dismissive attitude towards African conflicts. [Extracted from the article]
