Abstract

A recent study conducted by scientists from the US, India, and Finland has found that Indians have the largest variety of Neanderthal and Denisovan genes compared to other populations. The study, based on the sequencing of 2,762 genomes from 18 states in India, reveals that Indians derive 1-2% of their genes from these archaic relatives. Additionally, the study shows that there is a significant diversity in archaic ancestry among Indians, with 90% of Neanderthal sequences found worldwide being present in India. These findings could provide insights into inherited dispositions and health. [Extracted from the article]
