Abstract
- Canva, a web-based design platform, has acquired Affinity, a British-made suite of design tools that competes with Adobe. Affinity offers alternatives to Adobe's Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign without a monthly subscription. Some customers are concerned about the acquisition because Canva sells subscriptions, leading them to worry about the future of Affinity's perpetual licenses. Canva and Affinity have tried to ease these concerns by pledging to accelerate new features, make apps available to schools and non-profit organizations, and continue offering perpetual licenses at fair prices. Only time will tell if Canva follows through on these promises. [Extracted from the article]
