Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Faculty of Health Sciences has focused on breast cancer, which is a growing concern globally. The study aimed to enhance the activity of a compound called a-mangostin, which has shown potential as an anticancer agent but has certain limitations. The researchers synthesized metal complexes of a-mangostin with cobalt, platinum, and iron, and tested their cytotoxic activity against breast cancer cells. The results indicated that the platinum complex, AM-Pt, exhibited the most promising anticancer activity. The study suggests that AM-Pt could be a potent candidate for breast cancer therapy, particularly as an estrogen receptor antagonist. [Extracted from the article]
