Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Thammasat University in Thailand aimed to identify the causes of undifferentiated acute febrile illness (AFI) in patients seeking treatment at Chum Phae Hospital in Khon Kaen province. Through molecular pathogen screening and serological analyses, the researchers were able to identify the etiology in 25.5% of cases, with dengue virus infection being the most common cause. They also found the presence of Guadeloupe mosquito virus (GMV) in four patients without other pathogen co-infections. The study suggests that the GMV strains identified in AFI patients are similar to those previously reported in mosquitoes and may be associated with febrile illness. [Extracted from the article]
