Abstract

A new report from the University of Massachusetts Amherst presents fresh data on gastrointestinal endoscopy. The study aimed to evaluate whether direct access colonoscopy (DAC) is as effective as office-scheduled colonoscopy (OSC) in achieving successful colonoscopy. The researchers conducted a retrospective, single-center study comparing DAC and OSC patients. The results showed that DAC was noninferior to OSC in terms of successful colonoscopy, preparation quality, and efficiency outcomes. The study suggests that DAC may improve access to colonoscopy.
