Abstract

A recent study conducted at the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences in Uttar Pradesh, India, compared the efficacy and safety of different intravenous analgesics for postoperative pain management in patients undergoing Lichtenstein repair for inguinal hernia. The study included 57 patients who were divided into three groups based on the analgesic used: intravenous diclofenac bolus, intravenous paracetamol infusion, and intravenous tramadol. The study found that all three analgesics were equally effective and safe in relieving postoperative pain. However, the researchers noted that larger studies are needed to draw definitive conclusions. [Extracted from the article]
