Abstract

A report from Hanshan Normal University in Chaozhou, People's Republic of China, discusses a new method for detecting Salmonella spp. in food. The researchers developed an assay that can detect Salmonella spp. in less than 40 minutes using recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) and Pyrococcus furiosus Argonaute (PfAgo). The assay demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity and could be a feasible option for field detection of Salmonella spp. The research has been peer-reviewed and published in the International Journal of Food Microbiology.
