Abstract
- In "Burnout: The Emotional Experience of Political Defeat" by Hannah Proctor, the author examines the emotional toll of political activism and the challenges faced by activists in maintaining resilience and commitment to their cause. Proctor explores the relationship between wounded attachment to a movement and revolutionary commitment, as well as the potential for bitterness and melancholy to replace hope and mourning. The article references literature, films, and historical events to illustrate these concepts and suggests that embracing vulnerability and grief can lead to strength and wholeness within the activist community.
