Repsol, a Spanish energy company, has acquired a 40% stake in Genia Bioenergy, a Valencia-based company that specializes in biogas and biomethane production. Genia has 19 biomethane projects in progress in Portugal and Spain, with a total capacity of 1.5TWh per year, as well as 11 projects in early development. Repsol plans to purchase all the output from these projects for internal use and to sell to customers.
