Abstract
- A study conducted by researchers at Akita University in Japan aimed to identify the characteristics of research mentors that are associated with a decreased risk of psychological burnout in young physician researchers. The researchers developed a research mentor scale consisting of three domains: building a good trust relationship, mentorship in research, and an established and authorized mentor. The study found that mentorship in research was inversely associated with personal and work-related burnout, while building a good trust relationship was inversely associated with client-related burnout. The researchers concluded that having a great research mentor who focuses on mentorship in research and establishes a trusting relationship with mentees can provide mental health support.
