Abstract

China is projected to be the leading contributor to global economic growth over the next five years, surpassing the combined contributions of all G-7 countries. According to the International Monetary Fund, China will account for approximately 21% of new economic activity, compared to 20% for the G-7 and nearly 12% for the US. The top four countries driving global growth are China, India, the US, and Indonesia, with 75% of global growth expected to be concentrated in 20 countries. While the US and China are currently major drivers of growth, their fiscal policies and debt loads pose long-term risks. India is projected to overtake China as the global growth leader in the near future. G-7 members Canada and Italy are expected to contribute less than 1% to global growth, while countries like Bangladesh and Egypt, driven by population growth, will contribute more.
