Abstract

A recent report from Quaid-I-Azam University in Islamabad, Pakistan discusses the use of metal-based nanomaterials for the sensing of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as naproxen and mobic. The researchers prepared and characterized cadmium sulfide and zinc oxide nanoparticles, which were used as electrode modifiers to enhance the electro-oxidation signals of the NSAIDs. The study found that the oxidation of the NSAIDs occurred in a pH-dependent manner, indicating the involvement of protons in their electron transfer reactions. The modified electrode surfaces demonstrated sensitivity, selectivity, and a fast responsiveness to the target NSAIDs. [Extracted from the article]
