Abstract

The article discusses the trends and statistics related to crop insurance in the United States. It highlights that the number of federal crop insurance policies sold annually has remained above 2.1 million from 2018 to 2022, with an increase in the use of crop insurance in 2021 and 2022. The article also mentions the growth in livestock insurance policies and the use of rainfall index insurance products. It notes that while there has been an increase in the use of livestock and rainfall index insurance programs, most of the growth in the federal crop insurance program is explained by traditional crop insurance plans. The article concludes by mentioning the Whole Farm Revenue Protection insurance program and its potential role in supporting new and beginning farmers. [Extracted from the article]
