Abstract
- Robert Harding Whittaker's system of categorization of all living organisms into 5 kingdoms provides a framework for understanding the diversity of life on Earth. The kingdom chart helps investigate the structure and function of living organisms, including common traits such as how they breathe, reproduce, eat, move, and grow. The chart has expanded to include a new kingdom called Archeabacteria, which consists of ancient organisms that survive extreme conditions. In 2018, a new organism called Hemimastigotes was discovered and classified as its own kingdom due to its distinct DNA. The other kingdoms include Archaea, Eubacteria, Protista, Fungi, Plantae, and Animalia. [Extracted from the article]
