Abstract

This article, titled "Is Bevacizumab a Risk Factor for Colon Stent-Related Perforation?", examines the association between bevacizumab, a monoclonal antibody used in cancer treatment, and stent-related perforation in patients with acute colorectal obstruction. The study analyzed data from 397 patients who underwent self-expandable metal stent (SEMS) insertion at four tertiary hospitals. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the incidence of perforation between patients who received bevacizumab and those who did not. The authors concluded that the insertion of SEMS into colonic obstruction is a safe procedure and that bevacizumab does not increase the risk of stent-related perforation.
