Abstract

This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, examines the role of random biopsies and histological analysis in Indian patients with chronic diarrhea and normal colonoscopy findings. The study evaluated whether these biopsies contribute to the differential diagnosis and alter the therapeutic approach. The results showed that serial biopsies identified changes in almost 25% of cases, including collagenous, lymphocytic, and eosinophilic colitis, and modified the treatment accordingly. The authors conclude that serial biopsies can be beneficial in patients with chronic diarrhea and normal colonoscopy results. [Extracted from the article]
