Abstract

This article discusses the feasibility and technical aspects of endoscopic resection of ileal lipomas, which are benign gastrointestinal subepithelial lesions. The narrow lumen, thin wall, and abundant mucosal blood supply of the small intestines make this area difficult to treat endoscopically. The authors present a novel technique called the "tongue out technique," which involves extracting the lesion into the caecum to provide a better view and workspace. The study analyzed seven cases of endoscopic resection using this technique and found a 100% technical success rate with no perforations or recurrence of the lipoma. The authors conclude that this new technique can facilitate the treatment of ileal lipomas with minimally invasive and organ-preserving endoscopic procedures. [Extracted from the article]
