Abstract

Greek cuisine is celebrated for its flavorful dishes and healthy Mediterranean diet. The cuisine is rooted in ancient Greek culture, with staples like olives, olive oil, and wine forming the basis of the diet. Seafood, wild game, and dairy products were also commonly consumed. Today, Greek cuisine offers a wide variety of delicious dishes, from mezedes (small plates) to grilled souvlaki and fresh seafood. Olives and olive oil are not only used in cooking but also have cultural significance in Greek society. Ancient Greeks even wrote some of the earliest cookbooks and valued bread baking as a closely guarded family secret. Overall, Greek cuisine is a rich and diverse culinary tradition that continues to be enjoyed and celebrated today. [Extracted from the article]
