Abstract

This article explores the cultural significance of rodents in India. It highlights various instances where rodents have played important roles in Indian mythology and history. For example, Mushakraj, a rat, is revered as the mount of Lord Ganesha, and rats are worshipped in the Karni Mata temple in Rajasthan. The article also discusses how rodents are part of the cultural traditions of the Adi tribe in Arunachal Pradesh, where they are included in marriage rituals. Additionally, the article examines the role of rats in the revolution that led to the creation of the state of Mizoram.
