Abstract
- The heirs to France's Clarins skincare fortune, known as Famille C, recently lost a bid to acquire the popular Australian brand Aesop. However, this attention has drawn interest to Famille C's investment arm, which aims to double the value of its holdings by 2030. Famille C has the financial capacity to make two more significant acquisitions in the next few years and is seeking new brands that align with their focus on beauty and appeal to younger generations. The investment arm has already invested in cosmetics and technology companies, as well as luxury hotels. The family prefers to gain control of the companies they invest in and maintain a steady proportion of the portfolio in the cosmetics sector. Clarins, the skincare and makeup company, saw a 9% increase in sales last year, with the majority of revenue coming from outside France. Prisca Courtin, the granddaughter of Clarins' founder and head of Famille C, is leading the investment efforts. [Extracted from the article]
