Abstract
- The article present a case study of a 79-year-old female with 1 day of nausea, vomiting, right-sided pleuritic chest pain and productive cough. Topics include diagnosing primary meningococcal pneumonia in a critically ill patient with pneumonia symptoms; discussing the clinical and microbiological features, differential diagnosis, treatment approach and learning points regarding Neisseria meningitidis identification; and treatment with antibiotics.
