Abstract

A recent report discusses research conducted at the Federal University Grosso in Brazil on veterinary medicine. The study focuses on the occurrence of Wischnewsky spots (WS) in cattle that died of hypothermia. WS are hemorrhagic lesions that affect the gastric mucosa and are commonly found in humans who have died from hypothermia. This study describes the occurrence of WS in cattle and emphasizes the importance of recognizing them in cases of cattle deaths suspected to be caused by hypothermia. The research was funded by Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cientifico e Tecnologico (CNPQ), Coordenacao de Aperfeigoamento de Pessoa de Nivel Superior (CAPES), and Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS).
