Abstract

Researchers at Peking University have developed a new method called CAT-S that allows for the profiling of subcellular proteomics in primary living samples. This method uses bioorthogonal photocatalytic chemistry to label mitochondrial proteins in living cells with high efficiency and specificity. The researchers applied CAT-S to various cell cultures, mouse tissues, and human blood cells, revealing native-state mitochondrial proteomic characteristics and identifying hidden mitochondrial proteins. CAT-S has the potential to open up new avenues for subcellular proteomic investigations of primary samples that were previously inaccessible. [Extracted from the article]
