Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers from Rhodes College in London, United Kingdom, explores the impact of sustainability emphasis on attracting the next generation of accountants. The study found that individuals are more interested in becoming accountants when sustainability assurance positions are emphasized, particularly those with a prosocial social value orientation. However, the study also suggests that prosocial individuals may exhibit lower professional skepticism, which could have potential negative consequences. The findings shed light on how the accounting profession can attract prosocial individuals and the implications of doing so. The research has been peer-reviewed and can be accessed in the journal Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory. [Extracted from the article]
