Abstract
- A recent study conducted by the University of Colorado School of Medicine examined the efficacy and feasibility of short-stretch compression therapy for filarial lymphedema in Sri Lanka. The study aimed to determine if self-adjustable, short-stretch compression garments (SSCG) could be effective and feasible in low- and middle-income countries where trained therapists for lymphedema may not be available. The results showed that the use of SSCG led to a median limb volume reduction of 11.3% and high garment acceptability. This study provides proof of concept for the use of SSCG in LMICs for filarial lymphedema treatment. [Extracted from the article]
