Abstract
- This article discusses the importance of considering the subjective experiences of patients in healthcare, particularly in the field of mental health. It focuses on Tourette syndrome (TS), a complex condition characterized by observable behavioral phenomena such as tics, as well as a range of subjective experiences reported by individuals with TS. The authors challenge the current diagnostic criteria for TS, which primarily focus on observable tics, and propose a more comprehensive approach that incorporates sensory, cognitive, and affective phenomena. They emphasize the need for further research to better understand and capture these subjective experiences, as they may have implications for treatment interventions. The article also highlights the potential benefits of incorporating subjective experiences into clinical assessments and interventions for TS patients. [Extracted from the article]
