Abstract

A recent study conducted in Karachi, Pakistan, explored the use of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a type of yeast, in treating patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). The study involved 30 patients who were given capsules of Saccharomyces cerevisiae twice daily for four weeks. The results showed that the treatment led to improvements in abdominal pain symptoms and quality of life for the patients. The researchers concluded that Saccharomyces cerevisiae could be a promising option for alleviating symptoms in IBS patients. [Extracted from the article]
