Abstract
- A recent study conducted in North India examined the expression of the Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein (WASp) in female carriers of the Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS). WAS is a rare genetic disorder characterized by immune system abnormalities. The study used flow cytometry to assess WASp expression in different blood cell lineages and found that lymphocytes and monocytes were the best cell lineages for estimating WASp in carrier females. However, genetic testing remains the gold standard for diagnosing carrier females with certain genetic variants. This research provides valuable insights into the diagnostic capabilities of flow cytometry in identifying carriers of WAS. [Extracted from the article]
