New Findings from Department of Economics in the Area of Iberian and Latin American Economic History Described (The Emergence of Financial Capital In the Health Insurance Business In Europe: the Case of Spain In the Last Fifty Years).

A study on the emergence of financial capital in the health insurance business in Spain over the past fifty years has been conducted by the Department of Economics in La Coruna. The study found that sickness insurance companies in Spain were initially developed by doctors and healthcare professionals, separate from general insurance companies. However, from the 1970s onwards, there was a consolidation of the industry, with national and multinational insurance companies becoming more involved in the health insurance sector.
