Abstract
- A report from Chiba University in Japan discusses the use of transgrafting, a plant breeding technique that combines genetically modified (GM) and non-GM plants to improve crop cultivation. The study focuses on the translocation of a luciferase protein in transgrafted tobacco plants, finding that the protein can move in both directions across the graft junction. However, the translocation is episodic and occurs at low levels, posing a minimal risk for allergenic responses. Further research is needed to determine the stability and expression of newly introduced proteins in GM plants. [Extracted from the article]
