Abstract

This article from the Arab Journal of Interventional Radiology explores the use of preoperative botulinum toxin injections as a treatment option for complex abdominal wall hernias. The study involved 8 patients with an average age of 53.38 years. The results showed a statistically significant decrease in the size of the hernia defect and loss of domain after the Botox injection. Primary fascial closure was achieved in 87.5% of the individuals, and there were no significant side effects. However, the study acknowledges the need for larger studies with longer follow-up times and a control group to confirm these findings. [Extracted from the article]
