Abstract

Pakistan is expected to see another increase in petroleum prices, with petrol set to rise by Rs9.5 per liter from April 1. The government is also considering raising the petroleum levy from Rs60 to Rs100 per liter to meet IMF demands. The proposal includes imposing General Sales Tax (GST) on petroleum to restore the standard 18% rate as demanded by the IMF. The Ministry of Finance regularly reviews petroleum prices, and there may be potential reductions in the prices of light diesel oil and kerosene. [Extracted from the article]
